What’s New in the 2025 Toyota Corolla?
The Toyota Corolla has been a staple on the roads of Los Angeles for over half a century—in fact, most sources maintain that it’s the best-selling car of all time. We figure that doesn’t happen by accident.
The Corolla has stood the test of time by providing Americans with a dependable, affordable, and comfortable ride for generations. It’s also managed to stay relevant all these years by consistently keeping it fresh, and the newest model is continuing that trend. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2025 Corolla.
2025 Toyota Corolla Updates
The biggest shake-up to the Corolla family this year is the addition of a brand-new grade, the Toyota Corolla FX. This special edition is named for the Corolla FX16 that was released in the late ‘80s, and it’s built off features found in the popular SE grade. Unique enhancements include:
· - 18-inch satin black finished alloy wheels with machined accents
· - Two-tone black roof
· - Black exterior badging and mirror caps
· - A special, sporty rear spoiler design
· - Lowering springs for a slammed profile
· - Specially tuned electric power steering
· - Moonstone fabric seats with orange stitching
· - Wireless phone charging
In addition to the new FX Edition, the 2025 Corolla can now be optioned with an upgraded 10.5-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia display, which allows greater interfacing with infotainment features like wireless Apple CarPlay®/Android Auto™. This new screen is standard in the FX and XSE, and available in the SE.
2025 Toyota Corolla Specs and Features
Now that we’re caught up on what’s changed, let’s cover some of the exciting features that are returning for this model year.
Choice of Powertrains
Under the hood of the gas-powered Corolla, you’ll find a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that puts out 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. This engine is only available with front-wheel drive. It gets impressive fuel economy for a non-hybrid, with up to 32 MPG in the city and 41 MPG on the highway.
The Corolla Hybrid is powered by a 1.8-liter with an electric motor. It comes with front-wheel drive as standard, and with FWD it’s capable of an extremely impressive 53 MPG in the city and 46 MPG on the highway. Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive is also available, and this setup adds an electric motor at the rear axle for more stability and control. The Corolla Hybrid AWD is rated for 51 MPG in the city and 44 MPG on the highway.
Two Thrilling Body Styles
The most familiar Corolla is the classic four-door car body style, but the current generation also offers a Corolla Hatchback. While this is generally considered to be a whole different model, it warrants an honorable mention because it shares a lot in common with its sedan sibling.
Corolla Hatchbacks have the same gasoline engine, as well as many of the same specs and interior options. The biggest difference is its dimensions. The Hatchback has a total passenger volume of 84.6 cubic feet and a cargo volume of 17.8 cubic feet, so it has slightly less space for passengers, but significantly more room for carrying things in the back, plus foldable back seats, which gives it a more versatile edge.
World-Class Safety
Since the 2023 model year, the Corolla has come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes the following features:
· - Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
· - Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD)
· - Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA)
· - Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)
· - Road Sign Assist (RSA)
· - Automatic High Beams (AHB)
· - Proactive Driving Assist (PDA)
The 2025 Corolla also won a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS. This is the sixth year in a row that it’s won this award, making it one of the safest compact cars available today.
A Most-Affordable Car
Its modest price tag and killer resale value are two of the main factors that have kept the Corolla in the limelight all these years, and the 2025 model is no exception. Here’s a breakdown of its MSRP by grade:
