Toyota Camry Updates: Comparing the 2025 Camry vs. 2024 Camry

For the 2025 model year, the Camry enters its ninth generation as a completely redesigned sedan.

Worry not, Toyota fans in the Los Angeles area—the Camry still retains all those features that have made it a bestseller for decades. It also brings some major changes from the last generation that give it a whole new personality. Read on to check out all the exciting differences between the 2024 Camry and 2025 Camry.

All Hybrid, All the Time

Previously, the Camry was available in multiple drivetrains, including a four-cylinder, six-cylinder, and a hybrid. Now, with the industry leaning further into electrification, Toyota’s decided to stay ahead of the curve—the 2025 Camry is exclusively hybrid.

The new powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with the latest Toyota Hybrid System (THS 5). With this setup, the new Camry is able to get up to 53 MPG in the city and 50 MPG on the highway for a total of 51 miles per gallon combined.

The new Camry hybrid is no slouch, either. It boasts a standard 225 net horsepower, which is the most standard horsepower of any Camry model ever released.

Available All-Wheel Drive Across All Grades

The 2024 Camry has mechanical AWD in the four-cylinder version, but the 2025 Camry can now be optioned with Electronic On-Demand AWD.

The system employs an additional electric motor at the rear axle, which works in tandem with electronic sensors that monitor driving conditions and send additional torque to the rear wheels when needed. This AWD system improves stability in sketchy road conditions, and it also provides a little extra punch, boosting the Camry to 232 combined horsepower.

Updated Safety Features

All 2025 Camry models come with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, the latest iteration of the award-winning suite of driver assistance features. This replaces TSS 2.5, which is found in the 2024 Camry.

TSS 3.0 comes with improvements to existing features, including Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Automatic High Beams. It also introduces Proactive Driving Assist, a new feature that uses gentle braking to aid in distance control and curve management.

Other standard features include Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Safe Exit Alert. Other available features in the upper grades include Traffic Jam Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, Panoramic View Monitor, and Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking.

Bold Styling and Design

Improvements to the suspension components and braking system have been made to further refine the Camry’s driving dynamics.

When finding the look for the ninth-gen Camry, the design team sought to give it a more athletic and sporty appearance. Perhaps the most noticeable change is the new hammerhead front fascia, which features LED headlights and daytime running lights.

The available grades are divided into two distinct personalities—the SE and XSE get a sport mesh grille, while the LE and XLE are considered comfort grades. Each comes with their own standard wheel designs.

Returning exterior colors for the Camry include Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, Celestial Silver Metallic, Underground, Midnight Black Metallic, Supersonic Red, and Reservoir Blue, and the XSE grade can still be optioned with the Midnight Black Metallic two-tone roof. Additionally, two colors have been added: Heavy Metal and Ocean Gem.

New Tech

The Camry now comes with a revamped selection of infotainment options.

The Toyota Audio Multimedia System now comes with either an 8-inch or a 12.3-inch screen, both drastic improvements over the last-gen model. The system comes standard with dual Bluetooth® phone pairing, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, five USB ports, and a Qi wireless charging pad.

The center screen pairs with either a 7-inch digital gauge cluster in the SE and LE grades and a 12.3-inch digital cluster in the XSE and XLE. Upper-level grades can also be ordered with a 10-inch head-up display.

As with the previous gen Camry, subscription to the full range of Toyota Connected Services is available.
